To optimize the sponge filter’s performance, we’ve included an air collar that replaces the need for an air stone and minimizes bubbles coming out of the side of the sponge. The air collar produces smaller bubbles that lessen noise and create more continuous current. If you need greater water circulation, use the included Easy Flow accessory that curves the uplift tube so that water flows out of the sponge filter horizontally across the water surface and around the aquarium.
The Aquarium Co-Op sponge filter is designed using coarse foam so that it can go many weeks between cleanings. The weighted base will immediately sink to the bottom of your aquarium, so no more floating up after a water change or initial installation. Heard good reviews about this filter after the easy flow attachment was added especially among the shrimp keeping community. I was using the dual sponge filters with suction cups for my shrimp tanks until now which worked well but seemed to clog very quickly. Ordered 15 small filters and they were delivered within 2 days. Previous order took about 2 weeks so 2 days was a very nice surprise. Getting much better flow with these filters and hoping to reduce maintenance time by not having to clean the filters as much as my previous ones. As always, very happy with my order and will order more soon to switch the rest of my shrimp tanks over!
I actually bought this for a 3.5 gal taller tank that I decided not to use. Now it’s in a 5 gal tank that is shorter. I had to cut it down to fit. The video and instructions online were very helpful so I knew how to make it fit. The sz of the nano sponge filter fits well in my tank.
Love this. Creates a flow rather than having bubbles constantly pop and spray the edges of my tank. I plan on upgrading all my sponge filters.
