I am using this in addition to a canister filter in one of my tanks and it does a great job at giving extra flow in the tank and making the water extra clear. Material looks durable, affordable and is easy to use. Great option if you want filtration that is consistently reliable, will almost never fail, and is useful for lots of things like setting up quarantine tanks, filtering tanks during power outages, putting beneficial bacteria in a new tank, and keeping shrimp or fry safe. A good cheap investment for any fish keeper and will definitely be useful for everyone at some point in the future.

I've recently switched to sponge filters from canister filters. I bought 1 Hikari and 1 hydro sponge filter from aquarium coop for my 125 and I love both of them. My water is as clear as its ever been. I will be using sponge filters in all of my tanks from now on!!!

I recently set up a small fishroom. (20 tanks) and using these to filter all my tanks. Very cost effective and added security when paired with aquarium co-op check valves. This product is a must for any avid fishkeeper.

I'm running this and a large coarse sponge filter in a 40 breeder and they work great, i like how quiet they are compared to a hob and i can put my tank tight against the wall. and maintenance is very easy.
