Food granules for targeted color intensification of all yellow, orange and red shrimp species. With high concentration of natural color enhancers such as astaxanthin, beta-carotene and lutein.

Shrimp King Color are sinking, water-stable food granules made from 100% natural ingredients for natural color intensification of freshwater dwarf shrimps.

Yellow, orange and red shrimps cannot develop the colors that give them their attractive bodily coloration themselves, and they have to take it in via their food. These colorings, called carotenoids, are primarily found in algae, flowers, fruits and leafy vegetables. Shrimps and crayfish turn carotenoids into their own colorings, especially astaxanthin, which forms a molecular bond with the protein beta crustacyanin. These molecular compounds are stored in special color cells and give the shrimps their species-specific coloring.

The situation with shrimps is similar to that with the famous pink flamingos: If these birds eat small, carotenoid-rich crustaceans like artemia, their feathers become pink in color due to the carotenoid or the astaxanthin they contain. If, on the other hand, their food does not contain any natural colorings, they lose their natural colorfulness and become white.

Shrimp King Color is rich in natural colorings from a wide range of high-quality ingredients, e.g. micro-algae, crustaceans, tagetes flowers, paprika, carrots and decapsulated artemia eggs. With regular feeding, it provides the perfect basis for the full development of the species-specific coloring.
Shrimp King Color is especially suited to the following species: Red Fire, Sakura Red, Sakura Orange, Blue Pearls, Yellow Fire, Black Tiger Shrimps and Blue Tiger Shrimps.

High-quality proteins and essential amino acids from aquatic animals act as carrier substances for the natural color intensifier. They ensure even growth. Vitamins and vital substances from different types of algae and vegetables act as "lubricants" for a functioning metabolism and strong defenses.

Seems to work

I recently received a batch of orange neos (private sale) where all the water had leaked out of their bag during shipping. I thought they were dead, but somehow the did survive. They were a *very* pale yellow, to the point where I wondered if I'd been sent yellow shrimp instead of orange ones. I've been feeding them this Shrimp King Color, along with a variety of other foods, and they've been coloring up nicely. They're not as dark as the orange shrimp I have from a previous order, but seem to be getting there and only one or two are still more yellow than orange.

This food is different than the other Shrimp King foods I got in a sample pack. Instead of large cylindrical pieces that fall apart after being in the water for a while, these are little tiny nuggets. The shrimp like to pick them up and run off with them and I've seen them fight over them a few times. They don't appear to turn to mush, but that might be because the shrimp eat them up too quickly.
