  • Coarse Foam
  • Weighted Base
  • Can Install Air Stone

Sponge filters offer reliability and hassle-free operation. With no moving parts, all you need is an air supply and you've got a filter that is fully contained within your aquarium.  Sponge filters are completely reusable, don't need any replacement cartridges and last for several years. Trusted by fish farms and wholesalers, sponge filters are a great choice for reliability and to set and forget.

The Aquarium Co-Op sponge filter is designed using coarse foam so that it can go many weeks between cleanings. The coarse foam with the weighted base means it'll stack on the bottom of your aquarium. No more floating up after a water change or initial installation. Green Plastic helps hide algae and blend in with your live aquarium plants.

My favorite sponge filters for Betta tanks

I have these filters in my 10g and 5g Betta tanks (2 in each, actually). And along with the Ziss adjustable air stones, they provide just the right amount of gentle filtration that I want/need for my Betta tanks. The filters look nice, have a nice weight, house lots of B.B., are easy to clean, and allow for a direct insertion of air stones without having to retrofit anything.

My only minor complaint is that the two inner sections/halves separate too easily when I'm doing a filter cleaning, but they come back together easily enough so it's no big deal; more like a minor annoyance.

They are the perfect size in the nano version for my small tanks, and basically disappear behind my plants. (Along with a small flat Cobalt heater, which hides nicely near the middle/bottom in each tank, people who see my setups for the first time think there are no filters and no heater, and are shocked when I tell them there are TWO filters and 1 heater in each tank.)

Great Sponge Filter

The only thing I would change is make the part on the top of the filter easier to take off, because it is really tight! Other than that, it's great.
