Spider wood is known to fungus. This means when you first put it in water it will most likely become a milky white color. Some fish, snails and shrimp eat this. You can pre boil or soak your wood to help prevent this in your aquarium. It is harmless to the aquarium, but can become unsightly. Some pieces will float until water logged.
