Micro sword is a grassy-looking plant which will eventually form a dense carpet if grown under medium to higher lighting. As it grows, it will send out runners along the substrate which will form new baby plants. Once it starts taking off, it can grow relatively quickly but usually does not get to be more than a few inches tall. Many aquarists keep this plant trimmed regularly to create a "lawn" effect.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

How We Grow and Store Our Plants

We store all of our plants in aquariums with plenty of light and fertilizer to start converting their leaves. This picture is from our warehouse. Not all vendors store their plants in water; many store them out of water in bags straight from the farms. This is more time without light and doesn't give them a head start in growing underwater leaves.

Don't Forget the Root Tabs!

Micro sword feeds primarily from the substrate and need nutrients at the root zone. Providing a few root tabs a month to your carpet of micro sword will help keep this plant lush, dense, and thriving.

Microsword portions vary widely

Bought two of these when rescaping my tank this week. One healthy/thick portion, the other was quite meager. Glad I bought two. If I'd only bought one and it had been the tiny one, I wouldn't have had nearly enough to spread around to get things started. I essentially ended up having one to use because the other was so small anyway. See pics for reference. Disappointing.

Plant arrived healthy despite shipment delay.

You guys do a great job packing. Item got delayed and it was delivered a day late with no issue. Plants are healthy and green.

Adorable!

Bought these in September, and these are exactly what I'd hoped for. They didn't really melt, maybe they turned a little yellow at first. The main problem was they took a while to really anchor themselves. Now some have spread and somehow attached to a rock. The mystery snail still uproots some patches now and then, but no problem.

Doing very well

Arrived timely and packaged well as always. I was easily able to divide the pot into many sections for my purposes. They have been in my tanks for over a week and they are still very green and have even started to send out runners.

After 2 months on a low tech setup

As usual, very little burn off and melting. When
They recovered from the placement it has been super easy and very fun to watch them spread out.

Lots of plant in one pot

I purchased these for the bottom of my 45 tall. They were thick and healthy and I was able to start 3 good patches from my order.

This is the 1st time I have planted Micro Sword but it definitely will not be the last. I love how they look in my aquarium and look forward to their spreading.

Micro Sword Struggles

All my live plants on my order are thriving except for my Micro Sword. It melted back and never recovered. I'm following all the guidelines for lighting and water parameters. I'm also using my Easy Green Fertilizer and Root Tabs as instructed by customer service with no luck.

Impressive!

First time buying from Aquarium Coop and I’m very happy with my order. The plants were packaged superior to any plants I’ve ordered elsewhere. And the plants much larger than expected! I will be a repeat customer in the future!

Pretty good!

It’s not growing fast without C02 but it is growing. I’ve gotten some runners. The brown diatoms love it, but my setup is a month old now and the diatoms are going away.

Perfect for low tech setups!

I always loved the carpeted appearance in aquascapes, but never had much success with carpeting plants. I have tried dwarf hairgrass no less than 3 times (playing with the lighting and CO2) but eventually gave up. It would survive, but would never spread for me. I gave up on all the fiddly lights and CO2 and went back to the basics.

Let me tell you, this plant is absolutely fantastic! I ordered 2 and I got 2 large bunches of microsword, one even had several runners coming off of it already! I expected some die back when I planted it but it has remained healthy as ever! It has been in my tank about 2 weeks and I swear I have seen a new little blade come out of the substrate every other day. It is amazing to do half the work and get almost effortless results. I was expecting growth to be A LOT slower in this low tech setup.

If you are someone who desperately wants that carpeted look but have struggled with other plants, this could be your solution.

That being said, I did get some snails, but considering my diatom algae outbreak I am not complaining!

Great plants, great quality, great service.
