Pogostemon helferi is a compact, bright green plant with thin, curly-edged leaves growing in a star pattern from the center. Its unique texture makes it a favorite to use in planted aquariums with medium to high lighting, nutrient-rich substrate, and hard water with lots of minerals. This stem plant has a moderate growth rate and generally reaches 2–4 inches (5-10 cm) in size. When growing well, it sends out many side shoots that spread into a bushy carpet.
