- Treats bacterial infections
- Safe for aquarium plants
- Safe for shrimp, snails, and other invertebrates
Fritz Mardel Maracyn® is a specially compounded broad-spectrum antibiotic (erythromycin) which has been shown to be effective against a number of pathogenic bacteria associated with ornamental fish disease. It was developed for complete but gradual dissolution in water. It is primarily effective against gram-positive pathogenic organisms. Symptoms of clamped fins, swollen eyes, heavy or rapid breathing, patchy coloration, change in swimming behavior or corner-hiding can be signs of possible bacterial infection.
The savings come in the 24-count package or larger over the traditional API Erythromycin. Each packet treats 10 gallons. The 100-gram bulk container treats 1,000 gallons. When treating with Maracyn, we recommend using an air stone in the aquarium, which may temporarily cause excessive foaming at the water surface.
I am aging my tank right now, but glad to have these meds on hand when I get new fish. Nice to get them at a reasonable cost and support Aquarium Co-Op. Thanks!
I found this med obviously through the co-op/Corey. Been using it ever since in med trio format, and alone. It definitely does work if used properly.
Cleared up my black algae!
I almost lost my whole tank! I had a pathogen introduced with new livestock.
My honey gouramis and all of my corys were struggling, laying on their sides, at the bottom of the tank. I was sure in my mind that attempts to save them would be futile, but I tried anyway. I did also have a .25 ammonia spike, which I chemically treated, and I added this antibiotic. Over 48 hrs each fish improved. And after 48 hrs, I released the gouramis from the fry cup/hospital area that I had put them (I placed them in the fry cup near the bubbler, at the water line, so that they could more easily get to the top for air, and to prevent other fish from nipping them).
NON OF MY SHRIMP WERE INJURED IN THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT!
