I bought these for my panted shrimp tank and sadly had to give them away. I pressed a few tabs deep ( all the way to the glass bottom, 2 inches deep on one side and 4 on the other) into my eco complete substrate only to find them an hour later rising back to the surface. I poked around on google and found that this is a pretty common issue with cellulose tabs and followed the advice of poking a pinhole in the tab first to let any air escape but even with the air bubble out they wouldn't stay down for me, I found the cellulose wrappers floating after a few hours. I took them to my MIL and put them in her tank with deep river rock gravel and they stay fine... can't comment on if they work or not because every plant that goes into her tank dies (no other ferts/poor lighting on at completely random times, plant eating fish) I've given her a few aponogeton bulbs and am hoping to see results. 4 stars because while I'm sure the product works great (based on experience with their other ferts) I couldn't get it to work for me... and that's okay too but maybe someone should post a disclaimer that they won't work in some lighter or shallow substrates.
Osmocote will cause ammonia spikes if it accidentally comes lose in the water column. Cory has made sure that these root tabs don't do that - and are much safer for your aquarium. If you don't want to spend $1/tab on other root tabs, do yourself a favor and get these. They will last, and will keep your fish safe from any unnecessary spikes in ammonia.
They do explode quick and some pieces float and turn white... will see if it works
First time using the tabs, but on my 3rd bottle of the liquid, and it's to soon to see the results for the tabs, but I love how easily I can stick them down in the substrate with my aquarium tweezers. The liquid has my plants looking the best they ever had and has given me confidence to try harder plants. Thanks Corey your the man!
This is the second time I've ordered root tabs they work as intended and at a very reasonable price!
i have had this in my tank for just a few weeks now and it works great, my dwarf sagittaria has easily doubled if not tripled in quantity, i have runners going everywhere.
with the root tabs and easy green it really couldn't be any easier to maintain a planted tank.
Put tabs in about 10 days ago after uprooting and moving plants for a new aquascape. They are already back to looking great and growing !
Should call it brawndo cause it's got what plants crave!
Have already seen new growth in my small sword plant after only a few days!
You get 20 of these for a great price. These and Easy Green helped save all my questionable plants. Add these + a little patience and you're golden.
