I have purchased one of these. It is in my 470 gallon pond. I must say I love it. Is it a little overkill some may say but to me I think I could use three more and I can’t wait for them to come back in stock, I love it. Thank you for the opportunity for the purchase.

I haven’t used this giant sponge filter in a tank or pond yet, so this is just a dry first impressions review, but my first impression is that it feels very well made. This thing is huge in person and definitely looks bigger than the photos make it seem.
The plastic feels thick and durable, and I didn’t find any sharp edges, burrs, or rough spots anywhere. The uplift tube fits snugly with no wobble at all, but it still comes apart easily with a twist, which makes it feel well designed instead of overly tight or sloppy. The tolerances overall seem really well manufactured.
The weighted base is extremely heavy, which makes the whole filter feel premium and overbuilt in a good way. The sponge also looks cleanly and uniformly cut, not uneven or cheap. Overall, it gives a much more substantial impression than a normal sponge filter.
For size, I measured the uplift tube at 11 3/4 inches long and 1 7/8 inches in diameter. The sponge itself is 12 1/8 inches tall and 13 7/8 inches in diameter. The height of the base and sponge body without the uplift tube is 15 3/4 inches, and total overall height is 26 1/2 inches. The weighted base diameter is 6 1/4 inches.
Overall, my first impression is that this is a premium, oversized sponge filter that feels built better than I expected. It honestly seems a little overbuilt, which I actually like. Even without running it yet, it feels like a quality piece.

Responsible use of money; no. Fishroom must have; yes! You are not a true ‘fish nerd’ until you have this ridiculous thing. I laughed when I opened the shipping box. I am so glad I jumped on this. It is like seeing that giant toothbrush at your dentist’s office. The product packaging sends it over the top. Pictured in front of 40 breeders and 15 gallon tanks. Cannot wait to see what you come up with next!

This thing is Massive!! I knew it was going to be big but this sponge filter feels like the ultimate fish trophy. It cant fit in a 5 gallon bucket. My cat can stand on it. I am so happy with it and impressed by the sheer size! If you like collecting dun fishy things, you gotta buy this one! Take a look at these pictures next to my 40 gallon tanks and cat!
