The hang on Back Optimizer solves the biggest complaint with Tidal filters, the surface skimming, side skimming, and unprotected intake on the Tidal 35. We've optimized this 3D printed intake to replace the stock intake and cover. This allows all the suction to come in from our intake. The filter is further optimized when you install a medium coarse pre filter sponge on the 35/55 and a large coarse pre filter sponge on the 75/110. This intake helps to keep your floating plants from getting sucked into the surface skimmer. Note that tiny shrimplets and very small fry can still get into the pre-filter sponge. It's recommended to raise fry with sponge filters only, or turn down the flow on the Tidal filters to maximize fry survival.

Surface Skimmer Delete

This filter optimizer resolves one of the primary complaints with the Tidal filters: the unprotected surface skimmer. The surface skimmer on the tidal filter can prevent the filter from operating with low water levels, and sucks in your floating plants, shrimp, small fish, and even snails.

Ok. I actually ordered this a while back, but I was nervous about tearing apart the filter so....here I am finally writing a review. All I can say is "Why in the heck did I not install this sooner?" Honestly, I was tired of topping off the tank and always having the filter be insanely loud and now it's finally working where I can raise the rate of water and I am not hearing that horrible intake of air sound which is a problem with these filters. The only thing I wish they'd do is make the 110 sponge for the adapter a bit thinner. I have to use it to keep Kuli loaches out, but I wish it were thinner as I mainly use this for phosphate media and nitrate media and let the canister do the main rock media. It's also a back up in case the big filter dies. Either way, it still made a big difference. The irony is I watched a youtube video of someone who messed up a bit but got it on and learned from his mistakes and avoided them. LOL. If you want to get rid of that horrible sound which happens when the water drops too low - BUY THIS! I cannot repeat it louder. Ok. I can. BUY THIS!!!! You won't regret it. Do look up videos though so you'll feel more confident. I love seeing something adapted and that makes it easier for me.

Love these Tidal optimizers. Keeps thing out of the skimmer

Instructional video, great. The only thing I'd recommend is NOT throwing away the part you're replacing. One of the side clips on my broke, they replaced it without question but between receiving the new one I couldn't run my filter. So keep that part incase it breaks!

I installed two optimizers on my 110 tidal filters and one on a 75 tidal. They all work great with the prefilter added on.

Special Note: Be aware that there is a space now up through the pump housing that small fish can get into. I lost one of my Medal Dragon Guppies up there on the 75 tidal filter this morning.
Looking for a way to plug this up.

Has made it possible to keep smaller fry and shrimp in my 40g breeders. Part fitment is perfect, and now i know much better how the filter works

Live plants will ship using an appropriate service and typically arrive in 2 to 5 business days. Transit times do not include weekends, holidays, or weather delays. To avoid delays in the shipping network we recommend ordering live plants on Saturdays and Sundays for a Monday ship out.

Dry goods such as fish food, medication, filtration products, etc. can be ordered any day and will ship the next business day with an appropriate service. Typical shipping times are 1 to 7 business day transit time, depending on delivery location.

Alaska and Hawaii have a $17.99 surcharge. We do not ship to Puerto Rico currently.
