To optimize the sponge filter’s performance, we’ve included an air collar that replaces the need for an air stone and minimizes bubbles coming out of the side of the sponge. The air collar produces smaller bubbles that lessen noise and create more continuous current. If you need greater water circulation, use the included Easy Flow accessory that curves the uplift tube so that water flows out of the sponge filter horizontally across the water surface and around the aquarium.
The Aquarium Co-Op sponge filter is designed using coarse foam so that it can go many weeks between cleanings. Co op really makes the best sponge filter, the sponge is coarser than anything you'll find on Amazon so it doesn't clog up with suuuuper fine particles, and a great price point too

I ordered 2 sponge filters with easy flow for a 55g aquarium I was setting up again. I placed one filter on each side of the aquarium. The flow from this kit created water circulation throughout the aquarium. I always liked sponge filters but this kit addressed some of my negatives (flow/noise). Satisfied so far with the kit

These sponge filters seem to be really well made. Everything fits confidently and doesn't feel cheap like some of the amazon options. I haven't used mine for long, but I imagine the porous sponge could go quite a while before clogging. The easy flow attachment is nice if you want to eliminate splashing / direct the flow anywhere in particular. I got this filter in a box of other goodies from the coop, and everything else seems to be really high quality. I appreciate the research Cory and the team put in before putting their name on something.
