The Aquarium Co-Op Power Head is perfect for adding circulation to your aquarium — beneficial for minimizing dead zones, ensuring particles reach the filter, and moving food and fertilizer to all parts of the tank. No need to rearrange your entire system to find a plug for it, since the included extra long power cord measures 11.8 feet to reach any outlet. It can be used on its own or with the Aquarium Co-Op Sponge Filter to create a more powerful filtration system.
Increases Water Circulation
A powerhead is simply a submersible water pump that sucks in water from the input and sprays out a powerful stream of water from the output. This device can be used to speed up water changes, create your own DIY filtration, and of course boost water circulation in your aquarium.
Power Head Placement
Ideally, place your power head in a location that targets stagnant areas while staying relatively out of sight. We like placing our power heads near the top of the aquarium so that they prevent oil slicks and agitate the water surface.
Since I have installed this power head my tank water is crystal clear.

Great powerhead!
I love that it hooks up to the sponge filters to draw water through. My fish and shrimp on my river tank love the movement it makes. Aquarium co-op items are the best!

Aquarium Co Op power head
I just purchased this item to use with the small sponge filter. I have a 29g freshwater tank and my Hob filter just didn’t seem to move enough water on the opposite end of the tank. My thoughts were to have the power head with the sponge filter attached, to move water from the dead zone towards the HOB filter and increase flow. BOY did it! The flow is so so strong, it was blowing my Harlequin’s to the other end of the tank. I asked how I could fix it so I could use it as I’d intended and Cory was so nice and offered a couple of suggestions, one of which was, put a prefer sponge over the outflow. That worked great and it acted as a damper, but still increased flow and the clarity of my tank is much better!
My only suggestion would be to provide an adjustment feature or include a flow regulator.
