  • Stimulates growth in root-feeding plants
  • Full of essential plant nutrients and minerals
  • Safe for shrimp, snail, and fish

If you have rooted plants in your aquarium, Easy Root Tabs are a great option to give your plants even more nutrients than substrate and fish waste alone. They're packed with mineralized top soil containing red clay and many other essential minerals plants need to thrive. Unlike many other aquarium root tabs out there, Easy Root Tabs do not contain ammonia-based ingredients and will not cause harmful effects if the contents of the capsule are released into the water column.

Root tabs

These have always kept my Amazon swords big and dark green. I tried another brand and turned out to be a waste of money.

Dramatic Results

I’ve been using root tabs for a while in several of my tanks, but I’ll admit that it’s been mostly due to trusting Cory’s recommendations in the many YouTube videos of his that I’ve watched. That is until I tried them on my lily/lotus (not sure what it is), where I saw results for myself for the first time, clear as day. (The results I’d gotten prior were hard to discern due to multiple other factors that could have been responsible.)

This plant had been struggling for a year or two, growing, but never getting any bigger than what you see in the red circle. Then I decided to put four root tabs under it to see what would happen, and the growth you see in the purple is about two month’s worth of growth, four tabs per month, eight tabs total at the time of the picture.

It’s the clearest example of improvement I’ve ever seen outside of co2 injection (this tank doesn’t have co2, by the way.)

I was quite pleased to see such a dramatic example of before/after on a plant that I knew hadn’t done much on its own for a long period of time.

I hope they offer a 100 or 200 capsule container soon with a reasonable bulk discount, as I now buy 200 capsules at a time for all my tanks.

Plants love em!

Love your plants and give them what they love. I put several of these in my substrate each month and use Easy Green weekly and my plants are poppin. Just make sure to poke a very small hole in them before use so they won't float and watch your plants thrive.

Not the greatest delivery system

The capsule design makes these very difficult to use. Once the capsule gets wet, it becomes very slick. When using tweezers to push into the substrate, it slides out and floats to the surface. Takes multiple tries and even after you get it in, most of the capsule’s work their way to the surface since they’re buoyant. In my opinion, they are best suited for a new setup and not an established tank.

Root Tabs

The root tabs are good and when I use them I seem to get good results.
It was a bit of a challenge to get a new Amazon Sword with little to no roots to stay in the substrate while trying to put the root tabs in and not have one or the other float off even using tweezers. I did finally manage it and have seen new root growth starting.
In light of this, I was wondering, could you make a non-coated tablet that would sink instead of float that would made it more user friendly. Though, with established plants it is less of a problem to sink those root tabs into the substrate and have them stay there.
Thank you

I’ve enjoyed Root tabs for a long time. I only have Gravel in my tank and it really does a great job with the plants

Easy Root Tabs are indeed easy to use.

I came back to the hobby about 6 months ago. Easy Root Tabs have made fertilizing easy. My plants seem to love them. I have been amazed by the growth rate of some plants. I have had plants grow several inches in less than a week!

Will float

I had purchased these pills before but stopped buying them after my first experience. However, I couldn't remember the exact reason why I stopped. After more than two years, I decided to buy them again and was quickly reminded of the issue. The pills tend to float out of the sand, and the fish will actually eat them. I have multiple tanks, and no matter how deep I bury the pills, they always float back to the surface within a few hours.
