The Aquarium Co-Op Powerhead is perfect for adding circulation to your aquarium — beneficial for minimizing dead zones, ensuring particles reach the filter, and moving food and fertilizer to all parts of the tank. No need to rearrange your entire system to find a plug for it, since the included extra long power cord measures 11.8 feet to reach any outlet. It can be used on its own or with the Aquarium Co-Op Sponge Filter to create a more powerful filtration system.

1

Increases Water Circulation

A powerhead is simply a submersible water pump that sucks in water from the input and sprays out a powerful stream of water from the output. This device can be used to speed up water changes, create your own DIY filtration, and of course boost water circulation in your aquarium.

2

Powerhead Placement

Ideally, place your powerhead in a location that targets stagnant areas while staying relatively out of sight. We like placing our powerheads near the top of the aquarium so that they prevent oil slicks and agitate the water surface.

3

A Powerful Sponge Filter

Use your powerhead to increase the flow rate of your sponge filter by attaching it directly to the uplift tube. These powerheads are a direct fit, no DIY or extra parts needed.

4

Direct the Flow

Now you can add an outflow nozzle to your powerhead to direct the flow wherever you want, allowing the powerhead to be placed in a more discreet location, while still achieving the desired flow direction.

Produces a Ton of Flow, Uses A Small Amount of Electricity!

I purchased this product to help with the flow on the back of my large 245 gallon fish tank and this has worked as advertised. I attached this to my Aquarium Co-Op sponge filter and have been very happy with the flow that the powerhead creates. I also enjoy that it only uses 10 watts so it doesn't add a lot to the electric bill. I would highly recommend this product for applications were more flow is required

Great, even for a 20g

I have a 20g tall, it is too strong but i put a prefilter sponge on the output and worked out great :)

This lil device is one outstanding piece of technology!
I've had mine for well over a year now and it's an excellent additional filtration for my large system.
My fish love it as well-so much that they attempt to lay eggs on the jet! I'll try to update this review with a picture if I catch them doing it again.

It's seemingly indestructible; I thought I broke mine by exposing it to air during a water change but after unplugging it for a bit, plugging it back in and waiting- it started to work again! I never took it out of the water, maybe that had something to do with it?
Highly recommended, particularly if you have lots of bottom feeders; they'll enjoy sitting on the sponge.
(Pic is after a waterchange-yes, it's a mess, haha. Can you find the filter? 8) )

Suction Cups

Purchased the power head a couple of months ago. Suction cups started losing suction. Cleaned them and the tank surface several times, but the cups came loose almost immediately. Put food grade silicone paste for o-rings on the face of the cups and they are holding the power head tightly now. My fish LOVE this power head!

Your imagination is the limit with this tool. I very much appreciate the consistency with the Aquarium Co-Op developed products. A lot of thought and testing went into little pump, you can see it with the long cable, the quality suction cup plate and how it’s sized to rig with other parts.

Power head

I used it on medium sponge filter it has great flow. I am using it in 40 gallon breeder. It moves water around the tank really good.

Adds flow to my hillstream loach breeding tank

This power head is perfect for me use case. I'm currently using it in conjunction with a large sponge filter to add flow in my 20 gallon long aquarium where I have 5 hillstream loaches that I'm hoping to breed. They are very spunky fish that love to play in the current. I'm currently loving this tank!!

Does the job, zero issues. I have it hooked up to a sponge filter in a 36 gallon guppy tank.

Great for powered sponge filter

I don’t usually use power heads but I bought this to power a sponge filter from aquarium co-op. I works great and as advertised. Another great product from the coop! Next bring one with adjustable water flow.

Much weaker than expected.

No aquarium coop branding on the pump or packaging. I found this very strange given Cory's position on branding, then again quality of this was not up to the standards of other products.

Not even close to being as powerful as other cheaper Amazon ones. Impeller is very tiny and does not move much water.

Suction cup design is the best I've had. Due to the weak flow and small impeller I'm sure it will last forever though. Works great on the aquarium coop filter so it serves its purpose. Bought 2 of them and one was defective, had a blemish on it and when I plugged it in it didn't turn on. They immediately refunded it so that's awesome. I ended up taking it apart and fixing it and it kinda works, good enough for a free pump.

Awesome but I wish it was adjustable

It works great for large tanks, but for anything nano (less than 20gal) it's overkill on the flow. I wish I could adjust the rate in half to make it more suitable for my slow fish. But if you have fish that love fast water, this is perfect. This is great for tossing my marimo moss balls around too. I'll have to take if off because it'll demolish my floating plants, but I'll put in a different tank instead :)

Amazing products!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE y’all’s products!!! So far I have the aquarium co-op power head, the pre filter sponge and sponge filter! I love the circulation the power head gives for my 15 gallon tank. It is a little powerful but thanks to y’all’s pre filter sponge paired with it it’s less powerful and doubles as a double sponge filter with y’all’s sponge filter attached to it!!! My husband and I are amazed with y’all’s designed products and will be purchasing from y’all for now on!!!! We also LOVE the fish tank sticker we got for free with our purchase ❤️ THANK YALL SO MUCH FOR MAKING IT HAPPIER AND EASIER TO OWN AND HAVE AQUARIUMS IN OUR HOME ❤️ I can’t wait to start my female sorority tank once again with y’all’s products!

Too strong that it agitates the water too mich

From a filtering standpoint, I love it. I attached an Aquarium Coop sponge filter at the bottom and it goes the job. But the water coming out of the upper pipe is very strong that all my floating plants get moved. I had to put a sponge to cover the hole and put an aquarium object yo keep it from being pushed out to minimize the water push.

In the end, I stopped using it and resorted back to an airline connected to an air pump on one end and a sponge filter on the other end.

Pictures show where I started (using this product) and what I ended up doing.

Power Filter

I tried the power head/sponge filter hack and it creates nice flow and is a nice addition to filtering my 55

Works fine, water changes, DIY filter

Currently using it inside a 75Gal. tank as the pump for my DIY water flosser & surface skimmer filter. That is, because I have 2 large sponge filters and they aren't producing enough flow in the tank to scoop up the loose dirt.

Using this pump mated to a sponge filter doesn't practically make sense: Flow is enough for a 75Gal. aquarium, but the sponge is undersized for such dirt flow. You'll end up cleaning *that* sponge filter way often.

I added an in-line power switch, to be able to turn off while feeding. One of the pics show a black switch with a red light. That is the -1 star.

Good overall and versatile.

Powerhead Used in 100 gallon Container Pond

I stacked two Aquarium Coop sponge filters together put the powerhead on and am pleasantly surprised on how well it works not only for water movement but the filter capabilities is probably my favorite. Great product for the price
