  • Prevents fungal infections on fish eggs
  • Treats nitrite and cyanide poisoning in fish
  • Treats fungus and external protozoan parasites on fish

Methylene blue is commonly used by fish breeders to prevent and treat fungal infections on fish eggs, as well as treat fish with cyanide and nitrite poisoning. As a secondary use case, it can help treat superficial fungus and some external protozoan parasites on fish. The disease symptoms can include white tufts or strands on the body (fungus) and scratching on the tank bottom or objects (external parasites).

1

Treat Egg Fungus

Adding methylene blue until the water is blue is a great way to keep fungus at bay. This won't prevent unfertilized eggs from going bad, but it can keep them from contaminating the good, viable eggs.

2

A Little Goes A Long Way

You only need a few drops for treating eggs, so a bottle of methylene blue will last for years. Use our catch cup with an air stone and some methylene blue to easily hatch corydoras catfish and other fish eggs.

3

Improve Your Hatch Rate

When hatching fish eggs, add an air stone in a container like our catch cup to increase oxygen flow in the water and prevent fungus from spreading to the fertilized eggs.

Baby Angel’s

I noticed that my Angel fish had paired and spawned. This product was great they are still in wriggle stage but I estimate at least 200 babies hoping they continue to do well.

Must have for fish keeping

Methelyene Blue is my first line of defense for hatching fish eggs, treating any sign of external disease and quarantining new fish. In my experience, new fish seem to develop fungal infections when being in my low PH water (6.0) for the first few days and this has saved many fish.

Had a case of chronic fin rot/fin melt on my betta despite acute treatment with Kanaplex. My fish was lethargic and losing weight. Mixed 1/2 teaspoon Fritz salt with 2 drops of Aquarium Co-Op methylene blue into 1 gallon of water and soaked my Betta for 30 mins. 2 soaks, 1 week apart, and it was shocking how much new fin growth and increased activity my Betta showed. Not sure if it was the salt, the methylene blue or both, but this treatment was magic!

Good Product. Just would like to see a cap or dispenser that helped with very small doses. Like 1 drop at a time.

I use methylene when hatching eggs from my rainbow fish and find it helps to prevent fungus. Also a little in a bag when shipping fish. Excellent product and I highly recommend it.
