This replacement sponge filter is for the Coarse Sponge Filters. These are a direct replacement and the same as the ones we sell with our sponge filters. Our sponge filters are not shipped vacuum packed as you’ll see with other alternatives. This retains the shape and strength of the cell walls in the sponge material. These replacement sponges fit most sponge filter bases on the market. If you’re looking to use these on an intake of a filter, we recommend our closed end pre filter sponges.

I bought some of these to replace the fine filters I tried and did not find as effective for my purpose, and some to replace two that a local raccoon managed damage after pulling them out of some tubs through the wire grate top.
I really appreciate being able to replace the sponges and reuse the hard plastic base. I really value opportunities to reduce plastic waste!

I purchased the coarse sponge to replace the fine one that was on my Aquarium Co-op small sponge filter. I prefer the coarse one as it seems easier to clean. Definitely recommend!

These course density sponges work great. water passes through much easier and good bacteria grow fast with less clogging and longer time before rinsing out .

These are great because they help hold the beneficial bacteria in the tank. I assume they keep your tiny fish and shrimp from getting sucked up the tube too. I'm not sure if that can happen or not.

Sponge filter is nice course sponge but the fish I got had flukes and now my tank and my girlfriends tank are infected. I use to feel comfortable putting fish I get from there into my tanks but I learned not to do that. Quarantine everything!

On the Forum, asking about my sponge filter being covered in hair algae, Cory suggested replacing, but also leave old one in tank somewhere several days to keep live bacteria strong. Then after, I could clean old one with Peroxide and keep as spare. So not only did I get a new sponge but also excellent advice!

Live plants will ship using an appropriate service and typically arrive in 2 to 5 business days. Transit times do not include weekends, holidays, or weather delays. To avoid delays in the shipping network we recommend
ordering live plants on Saturdays and Sundays for a Monday ship out.
Dry goods such as fish food, medication, filtration products, etc. can be ordered any day and will ship the next business day with an appropriate service. Typical shipping times are 1 to 7 business day transit time,
