I have not used this yet, but bought as a back up. Having said that, I was amazed at how quickly my order came. I will order from Aquarium co-op again, and again, as long as I’m in this hobby.

I had some fine sponges bought from Amazon that just didn’t work like I wanted. They couldn’t clear the fine particles from my water. I switched to ACQ Co-Op sponge and finally got clear water. The sponges are fine, but not so tight that the outside is perfectly smooth like the Amazon sponges. The sponge surface allows it to pull in the particulates.

Love these filters. Having affordable replacement sponges makes them even better!

I like to rotate sponges so that I can really clean them between quarantines or when I get the ever persistent black beard algae clogging one up. This replacement is easy to use and a great price. I also like to sometimes swap between the fine and coarse depending on the fish types and substrate types so again - this is perfect for that!

I haven't had any luck finding a way to replace sponge filters after they start deteriorating. As usual the Co-op has made this easy, pick your matching size and it just fits in easily. I bought a few extra and keep them in a sump so they are cycled and ready to go.

I’ve been waiting for this to come out and finally got it and works great love all of their products.

Works great, I prefer it over the coarse filter.

It’s nice to have the option of a fine filter to do more mechanical filtration. Seems good so far! It definitely collects detritus faster than the coarse sponge.

Replaced my coarse sponge with this one to see if it was better at getting particulates out of the water. It is! I wish they had come with this sponge in the first place and will slowly replace the coarse sponges on my other tanks. This is also nice because my hillstream loach fry can crawl into the holes of the coarse sponge and I worry about injuring them when I take it out to clean it.

I wanted to try out the fine sponge filter but didn't want to spend the money for a new unit completely so when they made the option for just the sponge I jumped at the chance!
