  • Large, background plant
  • Easy to care for
  • Great for angelfish to lay eggs
  • Not available to be shipped to Hawaii and Alaska.

Amazon swords are one of the oldest-kept plants in the hobby, loved for their ease of care and ability to tolerate a wide range of conditions. They have long, broad leaves with a pointed end that come in bright green to dark green colors. This monster plant can grow 20 inches tall or more, making them a great background plant for larger aquariums or centerpiece for small aquariums. Angelfish are known for using an Amazon sword's large leaves as a surface to lay eggs.

1

Heavy Root Feeder

Amazon Swords are heavy root feeders and often need to start with 2-3 root tabs at planting. We recommend adding root tabs monthly. As the plant gets larger, you should increase the amount of root tabs given each month.

2

Plant Transition

Most aquatic plants are grown out of water at the farms. At our warehouse, we start the plant's transition so they can begin growing underwater leaves for you. As you can see, the round leaves are grown out of water while the slender leaves are grown under water. This is a normal process, and it's your choice cut off the fading, older leaves or leave them.

3

How We Grow and Store Our Plants

We store all of our plants in aquariums with plenty of light and fertilizer to start converting their leaves. This picture is from our warehouse. Not all vendors store their plants in water; many store them out of water in bags straight from the farms. This is more time without light and doesn't give them a head start in growing underwater leaves.

4

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

Super healthy!

I ordered 2 of the Amazon Sword plants. They arrived looking super healthy! No melting has accrued at all. Very happy with my purchase. I’m a repeat customer with Aquarium Co-Op. I only wish they shipped fish!!! 😊

Amazon sword

Plant looked awesome when I first got it packaging is top notch. I put 6 root tabs around it when planted and trimmed back wilting leaves. It did grow 2 new leaves and after 3 weeks I added 4 more root tabs but it doesn’t seem to be getting any bigger or new leaves and this is why I rated it a 4.

What is wrong with co-op?

Have always ordered from them. This order, though, I can't even express how disappointed I am. All the plants were broke down and half dead. The one before this had a few like that, but I thought it was a fluke. I guess they are going downhill. This is the sword- as you can see, not doing well. I can probably nurse it back to health but shouldn't have to.

Tetras and gourami’s love

I set this plant in the middle of my tank and it just blew up almost over night. Only sad parts about the plant are it stopped growing so I will be buying more plants so it’s not such an eyesore but I should’ve researched it better not companies fault, and it hides fish really well, I thought my guppy who I was using to temperament test my fish had died but the whole time he was chilling in the stems of the plant. My tetras love playing tag around the plant chasing each other and swimming all around the leaves. My gourami loves nibbling off the dead leaves or the algae that’s grown on them. My tank would look okay without the sword but looks amazing with.

Always satisfied

I buy almost everything I need for my fish tanks from aquarium co-op. After my family and I moved I decided I missed having sword plants. Normally I keep them in a community tank that’s well established, but I now only have a 10 gallon single betta tank. So I also stocked up on easy green and root tabs.

I replaced the net pot the plant came in for a 4 inch pot, filled it with aqueon plant and shrimp substrate, and I also put root tabs in the pots as well as around my tank. I’ve had the plant for about 2 weeks and I’ve already seen like 4 new leaves grown in.

The red Rubin sword is not from aquarium co-op but that’s taken off as well.

Beautiful!

I am planting a Fluval 9, keeping them in their pots, using gravel due to the filtration system.

Amazon Sword

A great plant that is very hardy. I've had many pair of Angel Fish use this plant. They absolutely love the clean smooth leaves to lay eggs on. Cut the leave and transfer eggs. This plant can also be easily cut and replanted you'll soon have as many hardy Amazon Swords you desire. Yes Easy Green is easy and works great

It is a pleasure to order from Co Op

Co Op's turn around time is amazing. Within 24 hours the order is in the mail. Incredible. I've made around 10 orders over time that included plants and they always arrived healthy, hardy even. Some that I've ordered, cryptocoryne, many amazon swords, anubias mini, tiger lotus bulb, windelov java fern, anubus barteri, crinum and valisneria. Always healthy 👍🏼

Beautiful plant & fast delivery!

This plant was delivered very quickly to me here in Florida. I think it came from Washington, so I was impressed with how fast it got here. It came in excellent condition. I planted it in my tank with some root tabs and I loved the way it looked. BUT, my turtle demolished it in a matter of minutes haha! This was the first time trying a real plant in his tank. Maybe I'll try again in the future. Regardless, I highly recommend Aquarium Co-Op! They have great customer service (quick responses to questions via email), fast delivery, and good quality products. This was my second time ordering something from them, and I've been really happy both times. RIP plant :(
