  • Unique stem plant with serrated leaves
  • Red coloration develops under high lighting
  • 100% clean with no algae, duckweed, or snails
  • Not available to be shipped to Hawaii and Alaska.

Hygrophila pinnatifida is a favorite plant commonly used in aquascaping and high tech aquariums. Its narrow, serrated leaves change from green to red under stronger lighting. It also has the unique flexibility to grow it either in the substrate or attached to rock or driftwood. This stem plant has a moderate growth rate and generally reaches 6–16 inches (15–40 cm) tall and 4–8 inches (10–20 cm) wide.

100% Free of Pests

Tissue culture plants are "lab-grown" at the farms by taking a tissue sample from an existing plant and growing it in a sterile nutrient medium. While tissue culture plants tend to be smaller and more expensive than potted plants, they are 100% free of snails, algae, and duckweed.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

Tissue culture plants have been optimized for long term storage. From the day that they are cultured, these plants  are designed to stay in cups for months. This makes them especially forgiving during transit when they are in a box on their way to your home.

Bought two of these. The first one I split into 3 pieces and planted it in a 20gal long. The 2nd I planted whole in my 20gal tall. The one I broke up is slowly starting to grow. The one I planted whole is getting insane growth after about 6 weeks and starting to get some color.

My second time trying this, the first time I still didn’t have light parameters dialed in and the plants just dwindled away. This time the cup came with an even larger amount of very intertwined plants. I separated them into two clumps and tied with brown thread to mopani wood near the top of the 37 gal tank for strongest light, hoping they will grow and shade the annubias. I’m trying a better light and improved fertilizer regime so fingers crossed these plants will take off.

I purchased this plant because I saw Cory's videos of his fish room and liked the plant. I attached mine to a small to k with rubber bands and it's finally unfurling after a couple weeks and doing good.

Eye catching tissue culture

I was worried how well this plant was going to do in my tank. in just over one week it has grown exceptionally well with no signs of melting, just growing. i cannot wait for this thing to mature because i am a sucker for the reds, but also the fern like leaves it has produced. im definitely buying more for their color and beautiful looks. arrived very healthy and is growing very fast. they add really nice contrast to the tank and their structure is unlike most plants i have in my tank which i enjoy, definitely gives your tank a jungle like vibe!

I live in SE Wisco, i ordered on a wednesday and got it by friday! Arrived in perfect condition with no jelly around the roots. Fairly big specimen since it's growth habit is kind of twisty there's a lot more in that little cup than you think. I was able to cut up into decent propogations and saw new roots forming within a week! 3 weeks later and I have about a half inch of new growth! I have a 20L G 9hrs of light and I use only root tabs and a monthly dose of iron. Lots of live plants, no CO2. I planted all of the propagations epiphytically. 👍

Not a good experience

This was the first plant I ordered from ACO that shipped from the new warehouse. The plant arrived looking rough but I tossed it into my farm tank to see if it could be salvaged. Nope. You can see in the picture that it had been affixed to the lava rock and what is left after a week. I contacted customer service and they sent a replacement. That one arrived having a hole in the tissue culture cup and the liquid coating the liner. Again, the plant looked rough. I contacted customer service again and just got a refund. I never had an issue with their Washington warehouse but they must be going through some serious growing pains in Kentucky. I can not recommend people buy this particular plant from ACO.

It wasn't their fault, but it's too hot in Florida and they both melted in shipping... Their customer service stepped up and took care of the problem... I'm sure they would've been great plants like the rest of their inventory...

Too Healthy

Essentially these tissue cultures are awesome, my only issue was which way is up!
Because they had overgrown the tissue cup they have to straighten themselves out under lights to know the top from the root end of the plant. They've been planted and we shall see the outcome.

Arrived in Good Condition

Purchasing this plant was a positive experience. Plant was shipped promptly and arrived in good condition. Plant has been in the tank for about 2 weeks and is showing signs of new growth. I would purchase again from Aquarium Co-Op.

Hygrophila Pinnatifida Tissue Culture

I would have a higher rating but I'm not sure how to rate this. The culture looked good. I put them in my tank and 2 days later they completely disappeared. I have no idea what happened, I don't know if it got eaten by a fish or what but I can't even find a single leave of them. I looked everywhere in my tank and nothing. It was like I never put them in. If I can get my aquarium plants to start growing I'd definitely like to try this again because I do want it in my aquarium.

To say the plant arrived healthy is an understatement. Leaves were hardy and the roots were well developed and healthy. I received two very nice sized plants. Both already had runners with tiny leaves and young roots.

Looked a little iffy when it arrived. Very brown & wilted to start. I wasn't sure how it would go. Planted it, & it continued to wilt. Figured it would melt back some before new growth started. Seems to have just melted away. It may bounce back, but doesn't look likely.
