Banana plants have been a staple of the aquarium hobby for many years because of their ease of care and visual impact. The banana plant gets its name because its tubers (where nutrients are stored) are shaped like a bunch of bananas. Once established, banana plants grow both wavy, green leaves in the water and tall lily pads at the surface. When this happens, check to make sure your other plants aren't being shaded out by the lily pads and trim if necessary.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

How We Grow and Store Our Plants

We store all of our plants in aquariums with plenty of light and fertilizer to start converting their leaves. This picture is from our warehouse. Not all vendors store their plants in water; many store them out of water in bags straight from the farms. This is more time without light and doesn't give them a head start in growing underwater leaves.

Delicate Leaves

The plant may come with a few small leaves. However, the leaves are delicate, and it is common for them to be damaged in transit. More leaves will grow about 7–14 days after being planted in an aquarium with some root tabs and Easy Green.

Banana Plant

Aquarium Coop is a good place to shop for Aquarium plants and supplies. I can only imagine how great it is to be able to buy their fish! Maybe in the future you'll start shipping livestock so more of us can purchase cool, healthy fish from Aquarium Coop!

Banana

Arrived with 3 little leaves, one experienced melt as expected, but it quickly bounced back and the now 4 leaves are growing quickly and slowly making their way to the surface. Very happy with the plant.

It got stuck in the storm. I just forgot to look into the weather. I love this plant. It came a day later and looked great. I’m not sure it will survive in my tank but it’s worth the shot!! Packaging was amazing!!! I’m probably keeping that insulated bag. 😎

So stinking cute!

I love this plant. I had one years ago and they do quite well. Beautiful plant and nice size, and even has a few baby leaves! Can't wait to get it established in my new 55. Shipping was quick too. I appreciated the heat pack was still slightly warm when I received the plants too. Thank you!

Easy To Grow Banana Plant

It came with only 1 tiny leaf, but looked very healthy. It grew new leaves quickly as well as roots shooting down. And is thriving. Some leaves are red which seem normal for this plant. They don't reach to the top of the tank, but that's ok. The leaves will grow much larger than you think so plant it more towards the back and give it plenty of room. My lighting is whatever comes in the Petsmart tank kits, no fertilizer, no CO2. (Picture is about 3 months after I got it)

Off to a great start!

This plant started producing big green leaves within a couple days!, the bananas are darker brown but the plant looks healthy overall. I have it in a new set up that is almost cycled.

Perfect

Beautiful addition to my aquarium. I need a couple more!

Pretty fast grower

Did not long whatsoever for the first of my two banana plants to settle into its new home. 2 new leaves became 4, then 5, then 8, and now the banana plant is sending a huge stem to the water surface to produce its water lily (I believe). This all took a couple of days over a month.

However, I wish the plant description listed that banana plants prefer low to no water flow at all, as my second banana plant had extreme trouble establishing itself in the aquarium until I moved it to the other side of the tank with the other banana plant.
Also, they are more demanding of calcium intake than other plants, so be careful of curling leaves like mine.

Banana plant

I watered it with two other plants. Banana plant came in brown with a ripped leaf only had three leaves on it. The bananas look great, but the leaves don’t look good.

Banana Plant is so cool!

I love this plant because it’s so different than anything I have found in the standard aquarium stores. It shipped quickly and arrived in great condition. It has already grown two new leaves in the couple weeks I have had it. Very pleased with my purchase and feels even better to support a co-op!

Problems with shipping

I order few plants they send it the same day and some how I didn’t get this until a week later was a problem with USPS they can’t find my package I went several times to pick up and they say can’t find it . All the plants arrived in bad shape since they spent 3 days in the postal office lost somewhere in there I send a email to aquarium co op and they ask for photo’s which I send they told me the plants still healthy and get back to them if they die. Some die some make barely. No very happy about usps I try to pu a claim but they told to talk to aquarium coop because they need to start the complain

Banana = Awesome

I have ordered 3 of these. The first arrived with leaves and bananas. The second purchase one with leaves and bananas and one bananas only. A few weeks later one is at the to of my 40 gallon tank. The others are just huge. Thank you Cory and team for the awesome plants.

Love it

I was a little unsure when I received it. It had 3 little leaves and one fell off. But now it has 5 leaves and two of them have got pretty big in the last few days. I've only had it for about 3 weeks

PERFECT PLANT

I bought two last month and a month later they are thriving and growing well. One plant already sprouted a lily pad within 30 days of planting in my aquarium.

Banana Plant

Plants made it through shipping fine - healthy and green. Both have started new leaves in less than a week. Fun to find this old favorite at a good price.

Not at all as expected

Purchased two, and both came very small and half dead. I tried to get help with them, and nobody responded. I am extremely disappointed. Hasn’t grown at all.

So cute!

Received this plant 3 weeks ago and it's thriving and growing so well. Just simply placed it on the substrate and added liquid fertilizer to the water. Great hiding place for my cherry shrimps :)

Just too cute

This thing is so adorable. It's cool it just sits on the substrate. And it's sprouting a new leaf!
