Anubias Nana Petite
- One of the smallest anubias
- Easy care in low light
- Slow growing
Anubias nana 'petite' quickly became very popular within the aquarium trade because of its tiny, deep green leaves and ease of care. It is one of the smallest Anubias varieties in the hobby and therefore well-suited as a foreground plant especially in larger aquariums. Anubias nana petite is slow-growing and thrives in low lighting. Its rhizome will grow along horizontally as it sends leaves upward, and it reaches a height of only a couple inches tall once established. Please note that depending on availability from our supplier, your anubias may come as a potted plant, or bare root.

How to Plant Anubias Nana Petite
1. Remove the plant from plastic bag and gently remove the damp liner.
2. The anubias can be planted as one single plant or gently separated into smaller plant clumps by cutting the rhizome.
3. Insert each plant clump between a crack in a rock or more firmly attach them to decor using super glue gel. Be careful not to bury the rhizome or the plant may suffer.

How to Grow Anubias Nana Petite
— Anubias nana petite care is very easy, so start by using low lighting between 10-20 PAR. Too much light may cause excess algae growth, so if you are using a brighter light, consider placing the anubias further away from the light or under the shade of taller or floating plants.
— Why is my anubias turning yellow or brown? It may be a nutrient deficiency, so measure the nitrate level using a multi-test strip. Dose with Easy Green all-in-one fertilizer until the water has 20-50 ppm nitrate. If the anubias continues to grow poorly, consider dosing Easy Potassium fertilizer in addition to Easy Green for extra potassium.
— How to trim Anubias nana petite: If the anubias has dying or melting leaves, trim them off at the base of the leaf without damaging the rhizome.
How to Propagate Anubias Nana Petite
— Use a sharp pair of scissors to cut the rhizome and split into two plants. Plant the two sections as normal.
Notes
— How big does Anubias nana petite grow? As one of the smallest variants of Anubias barteri, this plant grows to 2 inches (5 cm) in height with a rhizome of 2–4 inches (5–10 cm). If you are patient and keep the plant happy, it can grow into a large, dense mat of tiny leaves that looks beautiful when draped across driftwood or rock.
