Tiger Lotus Bulb

Ordered this bulb when I was restocking Ich X meds for the QT, just happened to see it and figured I'd give it a try. For 9.99, why not? Arrived 2 days after ordering. The bulb was weighty and well saturated. After acclimating, I just dropped it into the tank in the general area I wanted it in, and it settled on its own. 2 days after introduction, it had already extended roots to the substrate. 5 days after introduction it was already producing new leaf growth. It's now been in tank for about 2 weeks, and I have about 2 inches of stem growth with 4 leaf chutes, and leaves measuring 1 - 1 1/2 inches. This little guy will grow fast and the coloration is magnificent. I have one leaf that is more yellow with the tiger stripe markings, and 3 that are varying shades of purple and red. Will absolutely be placing these in my 150 gallon setup later this year!

All three lotus bulbs came in excellent shape with leaves that have not melted in my aquarium and are even putting out new leaves. Love the color of the leaves and adaptability of this plant.

Looks a little rough, as expected. Based on previous experience with Aquarium Co-op’s plants, it will be beautiful!

Do not fear the loss of your bulbs leaves if they fall off. I stayed confident and was rewarded with three vibrant healthy new leaves within a week or so. I’m excited to see it continue to grow.

I received the tiger lotus with some shipping-weary leaves, so I trimmed them just above the growth point and located the corm. It initially threw a quick daughter corm that floated off and grew a tiny plant (a little discouraging at first), but after that setback it bounced back fast. About a week later a new pink stem emerged, rooted heavily, and started producing leaves at the same time. With root tabs in place, growth absolutely exploded — in just 23 days it went from a single small stem to huge, vibrant leaves like you see in the photos. Once it settled in, it took off and became one of the fastest, most impressive growers in my tank. Definitely a standout plant once established.
