Red melon sword is an easy plant with a striking appearance. As per its common name, this plant will produce vibrant red and green foliage. It does well as a background plant in aquascaping and can serve as a centerpiece in smaller aquariums due to its eye-catching appearance. Its big, rounded leaves provide a nice, shady place for fish to take shelter.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

2

Plant Transition

Most aquatic plants are grown out of water at the farms. At our warehouse, we start the plant's transition so they can begin growing underwater leaves for you. As you can see the rounded leaves are grown out of water while the more slender leaves are grown under water. This is a normal process, and it's your choice to cut off the fading, older leaves or leave them.

Easy Root Tabs - Aquarium Co - Op
3

Heavy Root Feeder

Sword plants are heavy root feeders and often need to start with 2-3 root tabs at planting. We recommend adding root tabs monthly. As the plant gets larger, you should increase the amount of root tabs given each month.

Great sword

I purchased 2 red melon swords because they look different than a regular sword plant. They showed up in great shape and look very nice in my aquarium. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Poor quality

Looks nothing like the pictures. Leaves yellowing with white spots , I doubt this plant will make it.

Wouldn't take off for me

I circled the plant in red so that you can see it. I planted this aquarium at the same time, and you can see the two crypt species in front of it really grew well. Not sure if the light output wasn't high enough, or if my photo periods were too short, or if I had too many floating plants.. PH is 7.8, GH and KH are 300+, with most of my hardness coming from calcium. The plants came looking really healthy, but they have really slowly died. Kept them planted because my neocaridina shrimp love to crawl all over them and eat them up.

Pleasantly pleased.

Recently moved from Illinois to TN and hadn’t yet unpacked the aquarium. Finally after being here 3 years, I finally got it set up. Did a lot of reading about live plants and it was such good fortune I landed on the Aquarium Co-Op website. (Thank you, Cory on YouTube) Wow, amazed at the plants and the prices. I bought an assortment including the Red Melon Sword Plant. I also bought the rock plant holder so setting it up in the aquarium was a piece of cake. I was pleased with the size of all the plants. They acclimated fine and are still fresh looking. I did buy the bottled fertilizer to help feed them. Don’t hesitate to buy any type of plant from the Aquarium Co-Op. I am so pleased especially with the Red Melon Sword Plant and its unusual red color. Few pics attached, one take from above.

Red Melon

Been about a week now since planted in tank. Plant rooted already and seems healthy. Way better than the Amazon Sword from “Petsmart”

Gorgeous and healthy

This was the first plant order I had placed since the warehouse moved to the East coast. As a Washingtonian, I had been spoiled by the close proximity of the old location. The plants arrived exactly as they did from the old warehouse; healthy, well packaged and ready to plant! They look great in three of our aquariums and are growing well!

Excellent choice

It shipped fast and everything came in great shape, ordered red melon sword, red dwarf lilly, dwarf hairgrass. After 2 weeks everything looks great and couldnt be happier. Will be placing more orders in at aquarium co op. I also have been using easy green and easy root tabs.

Looking Great

Plant arrived bigger than expected. It melted back at first, but is now looking great (although different than the page picture, which shows an emersed grown plant).

Excellent packaging

Plant was perfectly packaged. Been in the tank for a month in inert sand substrate with root tabs. Plant barely melted. Now established, dark red leaves are growing

A little disappointed

I was surprised by to poor condition of this order. This isn’t quite as pictured. I hope it bounces back, but I was willing to pay the price of aquarium coop because I expected a healthier specimen.
