  • Easy foreground plant for low light tanks
  • Looks like anubias but plants into the ground
  • 100% clean with no algae, duckweed, or snails
  • Not available to be shipped to Hawaii and Alaska.

Schismatoglottis prietoi is a relatively new plant to the aquarium hobby that looks like anubias but has softer leaves and prefers to be planted in substrate. Its almond-shaped, green leaves grow to 1–3 inches (3–8 cm) long and have wavy edges. This compact species is easy to care for and does well in low tech planted aquariums. Once they become well-established, they develop a dense root system and have a faster growth rate than your typical anubias.

100% Free of Pests

Tissue culture plants are "lab-grown" at the farms by taking a tissue sample from an existing plant and growing it in a sterile nutrient medium. While tissue culture plants tend to be smaller and more expensive than potted plants, they are 100% free of snails, algae, and duckweed.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

Cups Protect Plants in Shipping

Tissue culture plants have been optimized for long term storage. From the day that they are cultured, these plants  are designed to stay in cups for months. This makes them especially forgiving during transit when they are in a box on their way to your home.

Cute!

Have had this planted for about a week and a half, and so far so good! The leaves are soft, the roots are healthy, and it's a very cute little plant! Arrived in perfect condition, no yellow leaves. The plant reminds me a lot of anubias bonsai!

Too early to tell.....

Tissue culture came in very well. They even packed it in one of their special reusable bags, which seemed like overkill as I only purchased dry goods and the tissue culture cup. Plant was very full, and quite root bound, which I don't mind as it means there are a bunch of potential plants. I actually prefer tissue culture plants over potted ones for new species, because of the value. There's not much information out there about Schismatoglottis prietoi. Most all schismatoglottis species are terrestrial. As such I plant all of my new tissue culture plants in emersed setups. (Plastic bins with a variety of different substrates where I can control the humidity and growing conditions) As this is a newer plant in the hobby that I've never worked with, I split it up into 6 different bins with varying light types to see what would do the best. All of them melted back, which is common, so I wasn't worried. Unfortunately I haven't seen any new growth yet, and it's been several weeks. All of the other plants in the bins (crypts, anubias, hair grass, bolbitis, java fern, and various stems, are growing well, so I'm not sure what I did wrong. We'll see what happens as we go along. Maybe they're just very slow to get going.

Great plant

I've had this growing for a couple of weeks now. Came in great shape. I love that it has some iridescence in the leaves like some Buces.

A good plant for your driftwood

I put mine on my driftwood it looks great. It lasted longer than the moss I put on it i usually use thread and tie it down but this time I did glue this time I am not a fan of glue and still am not . It is doing ok there is a lot of plant in this culture so you can spread it out if you want. I put it in 2 spots and it is thriving, very pretty and worth it .

Schismatoglottis Prietoi Tissue Culture

This culture comes in one clump that is difficult to separate, I really like this plant but I would order the potted one from Aquarium Coop as the cultures are coming from a third party vendor. I have always found Aquarium Coop plants to be very hardy!

Nice Addition to the Foreground

I’m very pleased with how this plant is adapting to my aquarium, and how it looks. Once it covers a bit more of the substrate, the look will be even better.

I ordered this back in September and haven’t been able to get the tank that it will be going into up and running yet, but the tissue culture still looks as good as the day I received it. Should be planting this weekend and can’t wait to see it in my tank.

I couldn’t plant this immediately, so I floated it in my aquarium under the light and think it gave it an extra boost. Very full cup, was able to plant six nice little clumps among three aquariums. So far no melt back and all are looking good. Speedy filling of order ans anlways and even the shipping went without hitches.

Melted and Died

When the plants arrived they were beautiful, healthy, lots of roots. Within 48 hours the leaves had completely melted and never grew back.

They hold up very well in the containers

I bought a few of these back in July 2024 and planted two, the other one, i just planted today, April 2025. It was still in ok condition, except for a few yellow leaves. I am finding them hard to grow using low light and no co2.

Super healthy and large portion!

This plant was really healthy, and is thriving in my aquarium. It hasn’t melted and there were 3 or 4 separate bunches in there!

Schismatoglottis review

This is a beautiful little starter plant. The plant arrived healthy with leaves erect and an extensive root ball. I have had it for at least a month and there has been no melting at all, and it is now putting out runners. The bright green really pops on my black substrate.

Very healthy looking tc plant, but...

I received this plant at 5:30 pm on a 92 degree day. The container was extremely warm when I opened the box..My fault I guess for not ordering a cold pack. I thought they were automatically included as with other online stores. Also, since this is tc I knew to expect a very small plant. It has very healthy leaves and a great root system!, however a lot of leaves are intertwined with the roots. They don't have much of a stem. There was no way to bury the roots in the substrate without burying a lot of leaves also. I pulled out as many leaves as I could, but the roots are now only partially buried so the leaves won't disintegrate under the substrate. I'll do my best by this little plant, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope for it's survival.

Pretty Green Plant

This plant is really pretty green. Came in healthy and happy with proper packaging to keep it from being damaged. Thank you!

Cute!

Arrived in great condition. The gel-like substance on the roots rinsed off quickly & easily. Planting was also easy (in small gravel) and even though it's only been two days or so, looks like it will start to thrive shortly. Really nice looking "shrub".

Amazing service

We order a lot of plants at once for our first planted aquarium. With all the information on the website we were able to pick the right plants for us and when we went to plant them we referred to that to know where and how to plant them. We with be ordering from aquarium co-op again for sure. We also watched a lot of Cory’s videos for guidance.

Don’t order during summer months!

My poor little plant culture was dying during the 5 days it took to ship. I didn’t realize they were coming from Kentucky (I’m on the west coast), otherwise I would’ve waited until cooler weather to order. I tried to save what I could of the culture and plant it in my tank but it was covered in white film the next day so I knew it was unsalvageable. The plant looks so cute in pictures, though, so I will order again when it’s cooler with my store credit.

Great Tropica product as usual

Love this plants, it’s growing fast already. I stick with Tropica TC’s any time I can. Coop TC’s seem really fresh.

Great as always.

This plant melted back and I’m hoping to see some new growth soon. This wasn’t the first plant purchase from Coop, won’t be the last. Thanks Cory and team. It’s always a pleasure.
