  • Rare nano plant
  • Small, dark-colored leaves
  • Farm-raised, not wild-collected
  • Not available to be shipped to Hawaii and Alaska.

Bucephelandra 'Black Pearl' gets its name from its dark-colored leaves with a deep green to almost red color. This slow-growing plant has similar care requirements to Anubias plants and will thrive under low light. Bucephelandra Black Pearl is a rare beauty that would be great addition to nano and large aquariums alike. It will grow along via its rhizome while producing small, rounded leaves.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

2

Plant Transition

Bucephalandra leaves are quite hardy and don't tend to melt when placed underwater. However, this slow-growing plant can take several weeks to get used to a new environment and start sprouting new leaves. Dose Easy Green fertilizer to speed up the transition.

3

Attach to Rock or Wood

For a natural look, bucephalandra plants can be attached to rock or driftwood with super glue gel. Simply draw a small line of glue on the hardscape, and firmly press the roots of the bucephalandra in place for 30 seconds or until set.

Bruce plant

To be honest this plant in particular came in not the best shape. It seemed to have alot of root rot on the rizone. Overall the other anubus and crips came in health shape. Will purchase from aquarium co op again.

Cool little plant, resilient despite shipping issues

The only reason I’m not leaving a 5 star review for this plant is because USPS failed to deliver it in a timely manner. I know this isn’t Aquarium Co-ops fault at all, because it was stuck at a carrier facility here in Nashville for nearly an entire week. (Original arrival date was March 27 but didn’t arrive until April 3.) The plant had melted back almost completely but the rhizome seemed healthy so I put it in my tank anyway. I’ve since seen some new small growth so I think it’s gonna make it. Mainly wanted to leave this review to bring it to Aquarium Co-ops attention because other people might experience similar issues and be unsatisfied with what should have been a stellar product. I’m not sure if there are other shipping carriers or options to consider but I hope your company might be able to find something more reliable in the future. I’ve always been very satisfied with Aquarium Co-op products in the past as well as all your helpful YouTube content for new fish keepers.

Lovely little plant

I received this in good condition and it has been great so far in my new tank. I chose this because I like the look of it and bucephalandra was recommended to me as a good starter plant for my betta tank. The specimen I received came apart into two clumps which was perfect for placement in my tank. I glued it to a piece of driftwood. It hasn't suffered melt and it looks healthy. I am excited to see how it geows in the coming months.

No melt!

I put this, 2 Anubis and a crypt in my convict parrot breeding tank to let them acclimate to my water before the get attacked to anything and they not only haven’t melted, but have noticeable growth after a few weeks!

Black Pearl

Arrived in great condition, as expected. Time will tell how it grows, but that’s mostly on me at this point. All the plants I’ve ordered at this point have been in great shape when they arrived.

Best of Show

Surprisingly, out of half a dozen or more plants purchased with my last order the Bucephalandria or “black pearl” has been my favorite. It’s a compact sturdy looking little plant that has had no die off or melt at all in the first few weeks. I bought two of them with my last purchase and am sure I’m going to get two more next time. It has me convinced I’m finally figuring this “growing” plants thing out.

Still alive and thriving

This plant was part of my first aquarium and it's still alive and thriving. I tried to glue it onto my driftwood but found it a few hours later floating around the tank. Eventually just found a crack in the driftwood to put it in and it is holding tight. Recently added CO2 and a Fluval 3.0 to the aquarium and all of my aquarium co-op plants are looking great.

Arrived looking beautiful

Unfortunately, it isn’t doing to well in my new tank and is loosing a bunch of leaves. I’d imagine it’s a plant you add after cycling as opposed to during in hopes of it helping things move along faster. I probably should have purchased a fast growing plant for this job

Pretty little plant

My Buce arrived Healthy and vibrant. I crazy glued them to stones in my tank. I have four on one square piece of slate and hopefully it will grow to be a centerpiece. The fifth piece is on another off to the side

Happy Plant!

Plant arrived healthy and has doubled in size over the past 2 months. Also looks like it might be putting out a little white blossom?

Nice plant

I've been having really bad luck getting anubias with rhizome rot from multiple sources, so I thought this plant would be a nice alternative. I bought two, and each came in six small pieces. I distributed them throughout my new aquarium I set up, glueing them to wood. It's been about three weeks and they are seem to be doing very well, no melting and some new growth

Great addition

The plants came in healthy and green, and are a great addition to my discus tank! The metal wires to help secure the plant to wood, rock, etc. was an excellent addition, roots seemed like they may have been compressed, but I don’t know much about this plant so maybe that’s normal.

Buc. Black Pearl

Came in great condition. Seems to still be healthy two weeks later. I am a beginner so only time will tell if I can keep it that way. However, I do feel like it came well packaged with care! Thank you!

Plant arrived dead, full refund

The plant arrived as just a rock wool pot with some slimy stem bits falling off it, so 0 stars for the plant. I contacted customer service who had me submit photos, then issued a refund. Overall, Aquarium CoOp has been great and this is the only failure I've received, which they promptly fixed. So, idk, 3 stars for the dead but refunded bucephalandra?

Beautiful, healthy plant that transitioned very well to my tank!
