  • Rare rhizome plant that's sustainably farm-raised
  • Bright green, oblong leaves with wavy edges
  • 100% clean with no algae, duckweed, or snails
  • Not available to be shipped to Hawaii and Alaska.

This small but beautiful aquarium plant has wavy-edged, oblong leaves that are about 2 inches (5 cm) long and 0.75 inch (2 cm) wide. The bright green leaves are speckled with small, white dots, and the ruffled edging provides a unique texture to your planted tank. Expect this slow-growing bucephalandra to reach about 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) in height.

100% Free of Pests

Tissue culture plants are "lab-grown" at the farms by taking a tissue sample from an existing plant and growing it in a sterile nutrient medium. While tissue culture plants tend to be smaller and more expensive than potted plants, they are 100% free of snails, algae, and duckweed.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

Cups Protect Plants in Shipping

Tissue culture plants have been optimized for long term storage. From the day that they are cultured, these plants  are designed to stay in cups for months. This makes them especially forgiving during transit when they are in a box on their way to your home.

The roots on these made it kind of a tangled mess to deal with but I am also new maybe I shouldn't have dove into tissue cultures lol it made it not exactly my esthetic bc the roots are like little tails that I cant hide quite how I wanted but once I got over that they do look so good

WOW!

This plant gorgeous and thriving! I was surprised how quickly it perked up and started growing within 1-7 days of planting. Plus you get a really good amount that splits into multiple plants (I got 3 rhizomes in my portion). If you’re thinking about buying, you should totally get this!

Failed in my aquarium

Ordered in February. It arrived quickly in good condition and was planted the next day on wood by simply wedging it into cracks. It proceeded to melt into brown strings over the next several weeks. All that’s left are two minuscule pieces of green that haven’t appeared to grow in months while another variety of buce from a different vendor is doing well in the same aquarium.

Melted away in 24 hours

I ordered some Bucephalandra Green Wavy from Aquarium Co-op a couple of years ago and I have loved it. It grew well and got quite large in my shrimp tank until I killed it due to some careless maintenance practices recently. So I was excited to try this new Bucephalandra tissue culture from Tropica. This was my first time ordering tissue culture plants so I wasn't sure what to expect but had high hopes. When the plants arrived they had obviously been tossed around in shipping. The growing medium was everywhere inside the container and coated all the plant surfaces. When I was finally able to get them untangled and washed off, I had about six plantlets and they were tiny, but seemed in decent condition. I glued each plantlet/rhizome to some ceramic filter media rings just to give them a weight to anchor until they could grow larger and I placed them near the rear of my 20 gal that gets good light and the slightest injection of CO2 to let them grow out. When i checked on them the next day all but one had melted away and I was left with just bits of rhizome glued to the weights. After two weeks the one that kept a couple of its leaves is struggling but is not completely gone yet. The others are still just bits of rhizome and have started to turn brown. There is still traces of green on some of them so I am still hopeful that they may eventually recover but it isn't looking good. I don't blame the Co-op or Tropica. I'm sure these are fine quality plants and I know the folks at Aquarium Co-op do an excellent job handling the plants when packaging. I'm sure the hot weather in transit and my own inexperience with tissue culture plants is the real culprit.

Melted arrival

I had order 2 of these, one of them arrived well and is still thriving in my tank a month later. However, the other was dead and brown upon arrival. As soon as I open the packaged, I email them right away with no response, the first email was on 7/9 the second on 7/11 and the third on 7/15. Never got a response. The other plants on the order arrived well.

Very nice portions arrived in good shape, despite arriving locally and then being shipped to the next state again, a delay of about a week in summer heat. Bukit Kelam is also a good-looking buce, one of the better-looking ones IMO. Glad to have it in my collection.

Plants

This on was a second order of plants. After first one I was sure I found FINALLY a god company for my plants needs. But I was mistaken. All plants arrived in bad shape. I think they are like others. First order is ok but after you been hooked it’s ok to send you bad staff. It’s petty. But this is hard business to take care. I think I’m still in search for good one

My order of buce tissue culture was perfect. Came with plenty of separate plantlets in the cup.

Looked great when I first got it

This plant looked great when I first got it and added it to my tank. Unfortunately after about 2 weeks, it 100% melted and now has zero leaves. Hopefully it will grow back with time. From what I have read, buce is extremely slow growing and may take 8 weeks to start growing new leaves.

My first time!

While I have tons of Buse (I might have a problem) this was the first time I bought a tissue culture. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount that was in it. I got it specifically for a tank I don’t want to have snails in. This was perfect. The plants are doing well with zero melt! I could t ask for more.
As always it was packed well and this package arrived a day early vs what it said when it would show.
I’ll be trying more in the future (to feed my plant addiction with no snails!)

Unique addition to the tank!

We have a 95 gal - low tech / low light planted tank. Normally where I would have issues with tissue cultures completely melting, this plant is a trooper! Adds some unique white ripple patterns from its leaves and gives some texture to the tank! Get one asap!

Wonderful plant!

I’m in love with this plant! I can’t say the name but it is stunning even in an almost full planted tank.
I just tucked it into a couple dragon rocks and it was opening up and growing the next day!

So far it's adjusting well to being in the tank. I was shocked to see it arrive at my doorstep in freezing cold temperatures in the middle of the day this past snow storm up here in Maine. The plants I ordered all survived well and adjusted great to the tanks. Shout out to the shipping procedures!

Home run plant!

I purchased this plant to go in a shrimp tank I have. What a robust group of plants I received! Arrived quickly and healthy. I attached it to driftwood and it is thriving. If you don’t have this plant in your tank, please consider! I will buy again.

Even though there was an unforeseeable shipping delay, causing it to take seven total days (usually I get my product in 2-3 days), my large order of plants arrived healthy as could be. As the weather was below 28°F, I was very concerned they would be DOA. The customer service team responded quickly, effectively, and reassuringly to my multiple emails of panic when I realized there was a freeze coming later in the week right after I placed my order.

1st time with tissue culture plants, so far I'm very happy. I'm not surprised. Everything from plants to advice I've received from Aquarium Co-op has been excellent.
