Cryptocoryne lutea is a medium-sized crypt with long stems and pointed, green leaves. It grows more upright than many other crypts and can reach 6-8 inches in height, making it a good midground plant in aquariums. This slow-growing species does well in low light and can produce runners that form new plants.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

Crypt Melt

Crypts (and many other live aquatic plants) are very sensitive to major changes in their water, so they often respond by absorbing/melting their existing leaves as they adjust to the different conditions. The energy they gain and conserve from “consuming” the old leaves allows the crypts to create new roots and leaves that can once again gather nutrients and light in their new environment.

3

Easy Planter

This natural, rock-like decoration is perfect for the lazy fishkeeper. Just add a root tab to the rockwool in the pot, drop the entire potted cryptocoryne plant into the center hole of the Easy Planter, and place it in your aquarium. Works great with bare bottom tanks or fish that like to dig.

How We Grow and Store Our Plants

We store all of our plants in aquariums with plenty of light and fertilizer to start converting their leaves. This picture is from our warehouse. Not all vendors store their plants in water; many store them out of water in bags straight from the farms. This is more time without light and doesn't give them a head start in growing underwater leaves.

My crypt was decimated

Received my order, and this plant didn't seem to do well during shipping.

My crypt was unfortunately smashed or something inside the box?

Everything else in the box was fine, just doesn't feel like it was shipping with love. I'm hoping the plant will be fine.

One of my favorite plants

The plant shipped quickly and arrived in the insulated liner. The leaves and roots came in very healthy. I put a root tab into the rock wool, planted it with the pot, and it’s been doing well! The new plant is the one that’s lighter green in the front. The others are crypt luteas and wentii green from the co-op that are about a year old. I’m very happy with all the plants from the co-op!

Great little plant

This is a really great little plant, they do grow rather slow so I haven't seen any new growth just yet. but minimal melting after shipping and it is withstanding the abuse from my bulldozer of a Nerite snail so I would say over all sturdy!

Beautiful Plant!!!

I received my Crypt lutea on May 24 and didn't get a chance to actually plant it for about 5 days, so I just set in a front corner of the tank in its pot.

Well, this is a picture on June 17 (about 3 weeks after planting) and it looks lovely! I probably could have separated this into a number of smaller plants. So far only 2 leaves have melted.

Always quality merchandise and customer service from everyone at Aquarium Co-op!

A Plant Killer has Met his Match, LOL!

I'll admit it. I'm a plant killer. Well, some of the plants I received from the Co-Op are defying the odds and actually thriving in my planted community tank. Starting with good quality plants, along with Root Tabs and Easy Green and that Easy LED Plant light are all helping me to start enjoying the beauty of live plants in an aquarium. Thank you!

Looks beautiful

It ads a lot of texture to the foreground of my 20 gallon. Brightly colored, and mine didn’t even require fertilizer, just some fluval stratum.

Great plant

The plant was in great condition. I was large enough I split it into two decent sized plants. My otocinclus love hanging out on the leaves. Great buy.

Maybe it was a one off…

Maybe it was a one off, but the crypt I got was nothing like the pictures I see of the ones others have received. First time ordering plants online so I didn’t want to get too invested and only got a crypt and a octopus. The octopus was full and looks nice but the crypt is small and has maybe six leaves total. Not really worth 9 bucks. Probably will stick with local shops for plants where I can pick it out. Plants were packaged well, shipping is cheap, and they arrived quick, plants were healthy barring a couple yellowed leaves on the crypt.

Impressive Crypt Lutea

Ordered Easy Carbon to help boost my 5.5gal planted crypts flourish a bit more quickly and keep algae under better control. To get the free shipping, I bought the Crypt Lutea on impulse.

When my Aquarium Co-Op Lutea came in, I was blown away! Its super healthy, and triple the size of the bunch I got from my local fish store!!! You can see how nicely its beginning to fill the water column already, on the right side of my betta tank. I'm super impressed by the excellent shipping it was wrapped in to keep it from melting as well.

Any other online aquarium plant store I've tried sends teeny tiny bunches of plants - Aquarium Co-Op's plants are above and beyond in size, quality, and at an excellent price. I'll absolutely check them first next time I need plants.

A bit ragged but ok

One of seven in the order (along with several products), this Crypt pot was squashed and the plant a bit rough. I do suspect it is going to recover…slowly of coarse…’cause that’s what Crypts do.

Great condition

First time ordering plants online. No regret, the plants are well packed in the box with wet napkin like bag wrapped. I was expecting some melting leaves, but it surprised me.

Arrived quickly and in excellent condition. Was able to get 6 sections out of the one plant. I planted 2 weeks ago and haven't had any dieback so I am very hopeful that they will grow to their potential

Perfect plant for a mid ground aquascape

The plants are kind of small right now because I cut off all their leaves and now they have been starting to grow like crazy. This is after a water change

Growing steady and look good!

Needed something a little taller in my ten gallon but didn’t want to have to trim all the time. They look great and are growing good haven’t had any die and have had them for a few weeks!

Love it

So far it is doing fantastic. It went through the typical crypt melt and came back great. Can’t wait to see it when it fills in.

Good experience

I got 3 pots and after separating them each out they covered much more area than I expected! I have not had any melt back. New leaves are coming in nicely. I would definitely recommend these. In the photo you can see them in the foreground.
