  • Deep green moss with spiky fronds
  • Easily separates into multiple pieces
  • 100% clean with no algae, duckweed, or snails
  • Not available to be shipped to Hawaii and Alaska.

Taxiphyllum sp. 'Spiky Moss' is like the bigger cousin of Christmas moss because of its spiky, deep green "branches" that extend out in multiple directions. When attached to hardscape, it can transform a normal piece of driftwood into a moss-covered branch lying deep within an unexplored forest. This moss is very undemanding and grows well even in very low light conditions. As with most other mosses, you can easily propagate it by breaking off a clump of moss and relocating it to another area.

100% Free of Pests

Tissue culture plants are "lab-grown" at the farms by taking a tissue sample from an existing plant and growing it in a sterile nutrient medium. While tissue culture plants tend to be smaller and more expensive than potted plants, they are 100% free of snails, algae, and duckweed.

We Include Heat Packs and Liners Free of Charge

We have a custom-developed algorithm to include heat packs and insulating plant liners as needed, based on the weather forecast from our warehouse to your shipping address. This helps keep plants at stable temperatures, both in hot and cold weather. Other vendors typically charge you at checkout for a heat pack. We include them when needed free of charge because it's our job to deliver our plants to your door healthy.

As always, best quality

I wasn't sure what to expect with my first tissue culture purchase, but I was blown away by how healthy and vibrant my moss is. There was no melting period to speak of, my shrimp adore it.

Slow going

Originally this plant was placed in my 55gal, but it didn’t do well. It eventually turned brownish and found itself next to the sponge filter. I took it out and put it in my 10gal, algae rich tank, and it is now growing! The plants in my 10gal do much better than the 55gal, and I don’t know why. Fish don’t do well, but snails and plants love it.

Very nice EASY plant

I keep coming back for these, so full and encourages baby shrimp babies.

Looked great when planted

Ordered the spike moss culture with 2 other plants. All came quickly and healthy. But needed to keep them for a few days until we were ready to put them in place.
Not much info on how to do it but you tube offered some help.
Planted them all and after 10 days plants are thriving but the moss is looking like it is dying. Been adding nutrient to water as instructions. And keeping decent light.
Not sure what it is. Looked healthy going in. Some browning but thought it would revive.

Easy to Glue

I was nervous that a culture grown moss cup would either be one big clump or shedding all over the tank, but this worked great! The plant easily separated into 1-2" strands. I put 3-6 pieces together like a bouquet of stem flowers, put a tiny dot of gel superglue on pre-soaked wood, and touched just the end of the "bouquet" to the glue so the majority of the strand was free floating. They have branched out REALLY well just 10 days after going into the tank. Originally looked like pieces of thread. Of the 9 plant types I recently purchased from Aquarium Co-op this is in my top 2 so far.

Very unique moss

Love the shaggy look of the moss, got it wedged into some crevices on a large driftwood piece. Looks cool now but I’m sure it will look awesome once it establishes and grows. Highly recommended.

Healthy and easy to handle

I wasn’t sure about getting a plant in this form, but so far they are doing really well in my 5-gallon Betta aquarium. No good aquarium stores in my town, so aquariumcoop has been a great source for what I need.

Very spikey

Have had the moss about a week. Broke it up into patches that I've inserted into gravel, sand, and driftwood and seems to be doing well and expanding. Shrimp like it and Cory's dig around it some

Spiky moss

This is my first tissue culture purchase. I was impressed with the quantity and quality of the moss. I’ve planted it into my shrimp tank and it is doing well.
As expected from the coop excellent service fast delivery, quality product.

Cherry Shrimp love the Spikey Moss

First time buying tissue cultures. Ordered the Spikey and Flame moss. Both are thriving in my tanks. I divided the moss culture between 3 different tanks and it is doing great in each one.

Beautiful spiky moss

I had never tried plant tissue cultures so thought I'd give it a try. When it arrived it was beautiful - bright green and healthy looking. I attached it to driftwood in a couple tanks and to cholla wood and it's doing great. Very happy with spiky moss and would buy again.

'spiky moss' tissue culture

Arrived in vibrant, healthy condition. This is the second time ordering this plant. Couple months ago, used it on some driftwood in 29 gallons tank with great results inspiring me to order some for the 55 gallons tank setup. Had to glue medium size pieces of dragon stone together to form two larger show pieces. The spiky moss was fantastic at hiding where joining pieces looked irregular, aiding to the look of one solid stone. Also used some on cholla wood because it's easy to split into multiple separate plants. Love this plant!

Great little cup of moss

This cup came with a good sized chunk of very healthy moss. I attached it to a piece of driftwood with a rubber band and it’s taken to it well. So far we’re on week 3 and it’s all still super green and healthy. Hoping it will be able to withstand lower temps as it’s in a warm tank that I’m cycling at the moment for my axolotl, but the moment it’s cycled I’ll be dropping temps slowly but steadily down to 64. So 🤞😅

Would buy again.

Thought I'd try it

Really liked the way it adds to my scape. Gives a feeling of grass around my rock scape. Looks great and I'm glad I tried it out.

Awesome moss

Great moss. You get a good amount so you can break it apart and stick multiple places. I super glued it to driftwood and my coconut caves. It is taller than I expected so keep that in mind.

Spiky moss tissue culture

First time trying a tissue culture. Wanted to wait before writing a review. This moss took very well after attaching onto wood. Thriving under low light and occasional easy green. Looks great.

Came as a goo ball

Did not have a good experience with the spiky moss tissue culture. But I contacted Aquarium Co-op, and was reimbursed.
